How to write best CV or resume ?

Posted: 01.04.2016
The following are recommendation in writing CV or writing resume for aviation jobs.

  • Single page is too short while four pages is too long to make CV easily go to the bin, the ideal one is about 2 to 3 pages.
  • Use simple commonly readable format and standard font in standard paper size eg A4 or letter size, while there should not be any ornamental or color effect, keep simple and enough information’s
  • Start short paragraph and highest achievement in the introductory paragraph. For example “Three years as Air Traffic Controller in world top 10 busiest airport” rather than three years as ATC in Houston International airport.
  • Use standard paragraph construction, with 12pt for title heading and 10 pt for paragraph, start from latest experience and ended with the first jobs, you may want to skip the job that is very short that does not add value.
  • Be honest about your self in the CV, review and update the CV continuously as the CV is your marketing tools to show and market who you are and what you can do for employers
  • Your CV may be written in various format such as word or txt to make it easy for employer to make a comparisons as there are many tools that is used that commonly accepting text version, never post image format
  • Make sure you are targeting the best quality job and relevant to the job you apply, for example,  Airport passenger handling representative, it is still relevant to state passenger and cargo handling, using abc software application for check in rather than I have received so many feedback report while acting as passenger handling. etc
  • Ask your colleagues or professional services to review your CV, ask them to read and ask feedback to assure sequential and no repetitions
  • Reasons for leaving job, is not important,  unless single sentence such as company  merge or bankrupt
  • For details on family status, nationality, religion, sport, etc has no value and for the early stage does not need to include, picture is only beneficial for cabin crew or passenger service which normally the employer need to see brief  full body image too see proportionality.
